COWBOY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
By Pamela Vaughn

      “Knock-Knock”
      “Who’s there?”
      “Doris.”
      “Doris who?”
“Door is always open at the Circle G Ranch, where God is at the center and the love never ends.”
Laughing and learning came easy at New Horizon Fellowship during the week of June 20-25th. This newly planted church was host to approximately 40 children each night, for a total of over 250 encounters for Christ during Vacation Bible School.
Each night began with singing, prayer and a cowboy puppet show that revealed how God’s door is always open to His children. Bible stories were then re-enacted by church members in authentic biblical dress. Beautiful backdrops painted by a local Adventist artist set the stage each night. Snacks and crafts focused on God and His wonderful love and acceptance of all.
The children were provided with sheets teaching key memory verses using puzzles, word searches, and coloring sheets. These were done at home as “homework”. Parents were encouraged to become involved in the learning process. The children who memorized their texts were provided a small delightful reward!
At the finale on Sabbath afternoon, the children performed a “hoe-down” for their parents. They sang their songs and said their memory verses on the out-door country stage. Uncle Joe’s Rolling Farm visited and all enjoyed petting and playing with God’s farm animals. Amusement train rides and fire engine rides excited not only the children, but the adults as well.
At the conclusion of the weeklong program, twelve children gave their hearts to God for the very first time. The remaining children rededicated themselves to God.
As a follow-up to VBS, the members of New Horizon will be hosting a Saturday morning “Beach Club” from 9-10:15 each Sabbath morning. Fun learning activities for the children will be provided to help teach more about our ever-loving God.
These club meetings will run for the next eight weeks and will provide an opportunity for the children and their parents to become familiar with Sabbath School.
God has truly blessed this newly planted church. Not only did the children learn more about God, but also the members were blessed being used by God as his precious body of believers!
