Say, "Everything belongs to someone. Besides taking care of our own things we must learn how to respect other people's things, including God.. Draw a picture of the ark at the start of the maze and the tabernacle at the end. Throughout the maze add: A shield and spear to represent a battle; an idol to represent Dagon; Little buildings to represent the ark being moved to another city; more little buildings at another spot in the maze to represent the ark being moved to still another city; more little buildings to represent a third city the ark was taken to; two cows. Under the words, Holy Bible, print the memory verse words using dots the children can trace over. Xerox and cut out one for each child. Glue the colored cover to the front and add the piece of real ribbon where the marker is shown. Add a piece of magnetic tape to the back to send project home as a memory verse refrigerator reminder. ACTING ON SCRIPTURE - Materials needed: Same items from Getting Their Attention Activity WHAT THE TEACHER DOES: (To prepare ahead) There are no advance preparations necessary. WHAT THE CHILDREN DO: Have the children sit in a circle. You, the teacher, choose one of the items (for example: the woman's purse). Circle behind the children several times then lay the article behind of the children. The child picks up the article walks around the circle then before sitting down tells the rest of the group how they would show respect for that particular item. Some suggestions would be: (They need to come up with one idea not all) 1. Don't get into it without asking. 2. Put it back right where you found it. 3. Replace it if something does happen to it. 4. Don't give it or loan it to anyone else The child then puts that article into the middle of the circle and selects another one to circle around the group of children with. This continues until all items are used up.
