SEGMENT 4: SHARING

Dynamic, style-four learners can't wait to share what they've learned with someone else. They want to try it out and see if it produces results. They want to answer their learning question.

The style-four learning question is: What if I apply it another way (their way)?

The style-four learner is looking for practical application and positive results. They want a chance to tweak the application and make it their own. If the lesson is about prayer, they want to pray. If the mission story relates to money, they want everyone asked to give more. They want to count the money and see an increase. If the lesson is on witnessing, they want to witness. Their motto is "just do it!" They are frustrated by lessons that go nowhere, by a class that isn't doing anything.

To ensure that learners achieve practical results, you may need to cut segment three a little short so as to give more time to sharing. Practical results can come from:

  • Preparing a creative form, such as a letter, a greeting card, an invitation, a special program, a skit; they transform the message of the objective so it can be shared and appreciated by others.
  • Participating in a life simulating activity -- they try out the information and measure their results. For instance, an activity might involve the kids in earning and spending money so as to give them a chance to pay tithe.
  • Making something connected to the lesson objective. For the Zacchaeus story, they might make a tree with a message, "God is looking for you," hidden under the foliage.
  • Doing something real. They might make some phone calls to a missing member of their class.
