SEGMENT
2: LESSON CONTENT
Analytic,
abstract, style-two thinkers will be impatient to get into segment
2, where the lesson content is presented. Normally, learners with this
preferred style dont mind a traditional approach to learning because
they like lots of sound information. But even they understand better and
better integrate learning into life if the learning cycle is followed.
The style-two learning question is: What is it
that I need to learn?
So for the next 15 minutes, the content of the lesson
needs to unfold. You can
- Tell the story or read it in the Bible.
- Help the kids discover additional information about
the Bible story, from dictionaries, concordance, maps.
- Look up texts that support the lesson objective
or that apply the lesson.
- Throw in a quiz sometimes, the style-two learner
will love it. Why? Because they excel at it.
Dont be tempted to tell everything you know
on the topic, however. Kids remember best what they discover themselves,
and discovering takes time. If the discovery of content began in the previous
15-minute segment, you can take time to discuss the meaning of what they
learned and offer additional material.
