SABBATH SCHOOL'S
MISSED OPPORTUNITY

In Sabbath School teachers can miss the opportunity to drive the point home. Think of an all-too-typical situation. The kids arrive and sit around until there are enough people to start the song service. After a welcome, prayer, and maybe a Scripture reading, the leader presents a program about nature, science, health, church history, a Bible baseball game, or a study of the Sanctuary.

The kids hear good stuff that provides building material for their spiritual structure. And they are usually given nails. (Chances are that the Bible baseball only produces some wood shavings, though.) But suddenly it’s time for the lesson. Now the teacher seriously hands out building materials and pounds a couple nails once or twice. But then Sabbath School is over. Lots of good stuff is left to work lose or blow away. And next week the builder will be onto some other part of the structure.
